The London Clinic London, UK

An advanced Delmatic Dali system provides comfortable and energy-efficient control of lighting throughout the London Clinic new Cancer Centre. The London Clinic was opened in 1932 and is recognised as one of the leading independent hospitals in the UK. The new Cancer Centre is the most advanced in Europe with eight floors dedicated exclusively to cancer care, diagnosis and treatment. The Delmatic system provides flexible and energy-efficient control of lighting as well as enhancing patient comfort with advanced digital dimming and scene setting throughout the patient rooms and wards. The lighting management system integrates with the plasma tablet within each room enabling patients to adjust and control lighting from their bedside panel to suit their individual preference: the tablet also controls other services including windows, temperature and entertainment. A scene set panel at each room entrance allows control of lighting and selection of lighting scenes by medical staff for patient treatment, medical examination etc). Delmatic’s Dali modules simplified installation and control within a medical environment. Medical applications require a minimum of two lighting circuits per room plus emergency which results in complicated switch wiring using traditional installation. Delmatic’s Dali controllers address multiple Dali ballasts irrespective of lighting circuiting so a single module controls many Dali luminaires across multiple circuits within a number of rooms: Dali sensors and Dali scene-set controls connect direct to the Dali buswire further simplifying installation and operation. The Delmatic system is fully addressable and configurable and combines central automatic control and monitoring of lighting with local control from wall switches, presence detectors, scene-set switches and from each patient’s tablet PCs. Advanced graphical software provides the client with access into the lighting installation and enables automatic commands, presence detector time-out periods and other configuration parameters to be adjusted as well as enabling full monitoring of the installation including the number of hours each luminaire has been in use, lamp failure information etc.
